Music Origins Project is a website developed to discuss the history and future of music, with an initial focus on electronic music and related art forms.
The site/blog will be a searchable, virtual museum offering informed dialogue about the cultural origins of musical art forms along with geolocated multimedia documentation. The project will have an educational component to teach students 21st Century Skills.
The Google Map identifying the cultural regions that were the origins of various musical art forms will be the lens for the exploration of each art form.
The educational component of the Music Origins Project will challenge students to take the lead in the sites content development. Student teams will be challenged to research and publish entries in the sites blog, and collaborate to create a digital virtual museum. Students around the world will be challenged to participate in this project to create a map for exploring the origins of musical genres (and other related art forms).
